Nest Bedding Organic Cotton Luxury Bed Set

The first of the best Nest Bedding sheet sets is an organic cotton set that has an incredibly soft and smooth feeling. There are a ton of benefits that Nest Bedding cotton fabric has.

Breathability

Let’s start with breathability. These sheets have a 300 thread count. According to the Sleep Foundation, this is right on par with what the Nest Bedding cotton sheet thread count should be. They recommend a thread count between 200 and 400 for cotton sheets. To explain, the thread count is the number of threads (width by length) for every square inch of fabric. For instance, 100 lengthwise threads by 100 widthwise threads in a square inch would be a thread count of 200.

Higher thread counts are often marketed as higher quality, but this isn’t always the case. It all depends on the quality of the fabric. In fact, many people find that higher thread counts also contribute to the sheets packing in more heat. If you want a sheet set that doesn’t get too warm and lets you feel light and breezy, then this is the sheet set for you.

Moisture-Wicking Properties

These Nest Bedding organic cotton sheets are moisture wicking. What this means is that the fabric has built-in capillaries, tiny spaces, that allow moisture to pull away from the skin. The moisture enters the sheets and travels to the outer layer. This makes it much easier for the moisture to evaporate rather than sitting on your skin all night.

This is significant for people that get hot when they sleep and experience night sweats. A decent portion of the American population experiences this issue. About 33% of the population reports experiencing night sweats. Sixteen percent of the population state that it is severe enough that it soaks the clothing in which they sleep.

Durability and Aging

Nest Bedding cotton sheets are very durable. In fact, cotton is a material that tends to soften as it ages rather than getting worn and scratchy over time. They are easy to wash; though the one downside here is that cotton does tend to wrinkle and shrink over time. This doesn’t affect the feeling of the sheets, but it may affect the look.

Eco-Friendliness

For those of you concerned about the environment, Nest Bedding is the perfect choice. These organic Nest Bedding cotton sheets have a Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) certification. This means that they are certified at the highest quality raw cotton standard available.

These cotton sheets from Nest Bedding are also Fair Trade certified. This means that the organic cotton in this sheet set holds up to very rigorous social, economic, and environmental standards.

Another part of being eco-friendly is the avoidance of harsh chemicals. This is especially helpful for people who have sensitive skin, such as those with certain skin conditions or those in certain age groups.

Skin sensitivity is quite prevalent, actually. One study indicated that approximately 60 to 70 percent of women and 50 to 60 percent of men have some sort of skin sensitivity. Healthline highlights the importance of fabrics on nighttime skin sensitivity. Nest Bedding cotton sheets are a good option for skin sensitivity because they are easy to wash, which means you can easily get rid of debris and microscopic creatures that cause itching. Nest Bedding also explains that their cotton sheets have antibacterial properties to protect your skin and overall health.

Luxury TENCELTM Sheet Set

The next Nest Bedding sheet set for us to review is the Nest Bedding luxury TENCELTM sheet set. TENCELTM is a type of fabric often sought after for its cooling properties. No need to spend an obscene amount of money on a cooling mattress. You can simply get these cooling sheets.

This bed sheet set is all the rage in both the interior design space and the medical industry. Good Housekeeping describes the Nest Bedding set as the best TENCELTM cooling sheets. Medical News Today called the Nest Bedding sheet the best Lyocell sheet. They are perfect for a hot sleeper.

Soft and Smooth Fibers

The Nest Bedding luxury TENCELTM sheet set is derived from wood and pulp. These materials give the sheets a soft feeling that is smoother than linen and wool. Like the previous product, this sheet set is ideal for people with sensitive skin.

These sheets, like the cotton sheets, also age very well. In addition, they’re also not prone to wrinkling like cotton sheets are. This gives them an even smoother appearance and feeling over time.

Cooling Properties

One of the biggest appeals of these sheets is its cooling properties. Studies have shown that heat exposure negatively affects sleep patterns. For instance, heat exposure increases wakefulness and decreases both slow wave sleep and rapid eye movement (REM) sleep.

No one likes to be hot when they sleep. There’s a difference between being cozy and sweltering. By incorporating sheets into your bedroom that are specifically designed to cool you down, you are sure to have a more restful sleep.

Moisture Absorbing Properties

The Nest Bedding TENCELTM sheet set is even more defensive against moisture than the organic cotton sheet set. In fact, it is 50% more effective against moisture and 70% more absorbent than cotton. This property adds to both the comfort level of the sheet and the temperature regulation. Because moisture moves through the sheets so rapidly, you don’t have to worry about hot, sticky sweat and other moisture sitting on you throughout the night.

Eco-Friendliness

Nest Bedding TENCELTM sheets set a new standard in sustainability. These sheets are produced with botanic fibers that are up to the standards of both the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) and the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC).

These wood sources are renewable, and the production process uses 10 to 20 times less water than cotton production. In addition, these Nest Bedding sheets were also recognized by Talk About Sleep for their eco-friendliness and commitment to sustainability, among other factors.

Production Specifications

This sheet set comes in three colors: white, pewter, and biscotti. Again, these are neutral colors that are designed to fit whatever color scheme you already have for your bedroom.

The pocket on the fitted sheet isn’t quite as deep as it is on the organic cotton sheet set, but it’s almost there. The pocket on the TENCELTM fitted sheet is 15 inches deep. So, it should still fit perfectly fine on your mattress.

Unfortunately, this sheet set doesn’t come with as many purchasing options as the organic cotton sheet set. The sheet set comes with the following:

  • One top sheet
  • One fitted sheet
  • One standard/queen pillowcase in twin and twin XL
  • Two standard/queen pillowcases in full
  • Four standard/queen pillowcases in queen
  • Four king pillowcases in king and California king

The pricing on this sheet set is the same as it is with the organic cotton sheet set. You also have the option of purchasing pillowcases only.

Nest Bedding 100% Bamboo Luxury Bed Sets

Our final sheet set is the Nest Bedding 100% bamboo luxury bed set. These are made of a material that you wouldn’t normally think of when it comes to fabric — bamboo. Like other fabrics, there are both pros and cons of Nest Bedding bamboo sheets.

Comfort and Breathability

This is the most appealing feature of Nest Bedding bamboo sheets for your mattress. The Nest Bedding website describes them as having a thick and luxurious feel. This is different than the other two sheet sets we’ve reviewed so far. This isn’t to say they feel hot, but they have a warmer, cozier feel than the other two sheet sets. For some people, this isn’t what they want. For others, this is highly appealing.

The recommended thread count for bamboo sheets according to the Sleep Foundation is 300 to 500. These sheets have a 300 thread count. This means that they are breathable, but also have a sufficient thread count to be comfortable for sleeping. They feel smooth and silky, despite what you may think they would feel like being made of bamboo.

Temperature Control

On the note of thread count, Nest Bedding bamboo sheets are described as a lightweight fabric with “superior temperature control.” These sheets are softer and lighter than traditional cotton sheets. They also have better moisture control than traditional cotton sheets. This lends to Nest Bedding bamboo sheets providing deeper sleep than other types.

Eco-Friendliness

There is some debate on the eco-friendliness of bamboo sheets. These tend to require more chemical processing than other types of fabrics. So, this may not be the best choice for those of you with skin sensitivity to chemical processing.

That being said, studies have shown the environmental benefits of bamboo textiles like the ones used in Nest Bedding. For example, bamboo growth is a fairly easy process. It grows quickly and does not require a lot of water or any fertilizer. It’s also biodegradable and a space saver since it grows so tall.

Durability and Aging

There is a downside and an upside when it comes to Nest Bedding bamboo sheet aging. The downside is that this fabric tends to wrinkle over time. The upside, though, is that this sheet set is very durable. Like the other two options, this sheet set is very easy to wash. This helps with its antimicrobial properties. The easier it is to clean, the more hygienic benefit you’ll get from the sheet set.

Production Specifications

The Nest Bedding bamboo sheet set comes in three different colors: white, pewter, and slate. Like the other two sheet set options, these are great to match almost bedroom décor.

This bamboo sheet set has a 15-inch deep pocket. Like the TENCELTM sheet set, this isn’t as deep as the cotton sheet set, but it’s more than sufficient to fit almost any mattress.

Purchasing options for the bamboo sheet set are the same as with the cotton sheet set. The sheet set comes with:

  • One top sheet
  • One fitted sheet
  • One standard/queen pillowcase in twin and twin XL
  • Two standard/queen pillowcases in full
  • Four standard/queen pillowcases in queen
  • Four king pillowcases in king and California king

The duvet set comes with:

  • One duvet cover
  • One standard/queen pillow sham in twin and twin XL
  • One standard/queen pillow sham in full and queen
  • Two king pillow shams in king and California king

Care Instructions for Nest Bedding Sheets

Luckily the care instructions for each of these products is the same, and they’re all very easy to accomplish. Nest Bedding recommends washing their sheets at least weekly unless you fall have one of these conditions which can increase risk of sensitivity or the amount of bacteria on your sheets: asthma, dust sensitivity, pet sleeps with you, excess night sweating, sleeping without clothes, showering in the morning and not at night, eating in bed, or illness and infection.

In addition to weekly, you should wash your Nest Bedding sheets as soon as they arrive. This is not to say they are dirty when they are packaged. However, they are packaged in a variety of materials that could deposit minor chemicals and debris on the sheet sets during travel.

To wash the sheet sets, use cold water and a mild laundry detergent. It is recommended that you not use bleach on these sheets. Those of you with skin sensitivity will understand why.

There are a few options for drying the sheets. You can hang them to dry, although this can cause wrinkles. The other options is machine drying. If you take this route, you should machine dry on low heat. It may take longer to dry than using high heat, but it won’t be as damaging to the fabric. If the sheets do wrinkle, you can use an iron on low heat to smooth them out.

Final Thoughts

Each of the sheets we reviewed has its own pros and cons. The cotton sheet set is the best for aging since it softens as it ages, which is hard to find. The TENCELTM sheet set is the best for cooling and moisture absorption properties. Finally, the bamboo sheet set is the best for sustainability.

However, what you’ll see with these products is that, whichever one you choose, high quality is one feature that they all have in common. Nest Bedding products are durable and have a long, renewable lifespan. Of course, some are better than others in certain categories. But, at the end of the day, each of these sheet sets is an excellent choice.

Overall, these sheet sets are more expensive than other products on the market. While this is one negative about the products, the benefits far outweigh the price you must pay for a restful night of sleep and improved overall health.
